General Motors said Friday it is recalling over 320,000 heavy duty diesel trucks that could be susceptible to short circuits after several reports of fires.

GM recalls seven different truck models across three years. This Recall Includes 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 4500, 5500 and 6500 trucks, 2017-2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 trucks equipped with Duramax 6.6-liter diesel engines and an optional engine-block heater. The engine block heater cord or the terminals may short circuit and fail, GM said.

According to NHTSA campaign No. 19V328000, the engine block heater cord or the terminals that link the cord to the heater could short circuit. A short circuit could potentially damage engine components and result in a fire. According to The Detroit News, 19 fires have been reported but nobody has been injured.
