Tesla unveiled its V3 Supercharger at a private event in Fremont, California . Tesla’s new next-generation charging station looks identical to it’s existing V2 Supercharger stations. These version 3 Supercharger is capable of a 250kW peak charge rate, which means a Model 3 Tesla can add 75 miles of range in 5 minutes and up to a theoretical 1,000 miles of range in an hour.
Tesla also announced that only Model 3 owners, the ones who are in the company’s Early Access Program will be able to charge up at these speeds as of now. In the times to come, Tesla has planned a V3 Supercharging through an over-the-air update to all its owners. The first and foremost V3 station is situated in Fremont in California headquarters whereas, Tesla has come up with the plans to make the 250kW charging capability available across North America in the 2nd quarter of 2019 and in Europe and Aisa-Pacific in the 4th quarter.
Moreover, the V3 stations equip liquid-cooled cables and a new 1 MW power cabinet that allows four superchargers respectively to get 250 kW without the usage of any of the power-sharing tricks which various other supercharger stations have equipped for their benefits. On Route Battery Warmup is the latest trick that only Teslas will get to understand. Now, this technology beforeshowing a high-rate charge warms up the battery. This is done in order to make the battery accept that peak power of the vehicle has run for the longest time possible.
All in all, launching of this third generation supercharger has resolved the major complaint of the present scenario of cthe current charging stations. The issue was that users used to experience power splitting or slow charging rates when many of the stalls were in use parallely. But now the new supercharger has resolved it all as per Tesla.
