Volvo Announces 415-HP Polestar Engineered Plug-In-Hybrid Versions For V60 and XC60!

April 6, 2019/Auto Dealer Deals

These days Polestar is a standalone brand within Volvo Cars however, the former performance arm is still working its magic on multiple Volvo models. As announced on Wednesday, V60 wagon and XC60 SUV, Volvo are some of the latest models to have received the Polestar Engineered option. This option begins with a 415-horsepower powertrain and also features a supercharged and turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 on the front axle and an electric motor on the rear axle. This is equipped in order to create a plug-in hybrid system.

Now, as compared to the standard T8 Twin Engine powertrain, this setup is believed to add 15 hp and 22 pound-feet of torque. If you observe carefully, you will notice that these power figures are identical to the specifications linked with the initial model in order to gain the Polestar Engineered option i.e., the S60 Sedan. Various other powertrain tweaks include transmission refinement to minimise the fuel consumption and improvise the throttle response.

Öhlins dual flow valve technology option is also included in the vehicles’ struts. Moreover, Öhlins offers a front strut bar so as to maximise the stiffness. Interestingly, both of these cars also gain 6-piston brake calipers along with a gold finish and unique wheels which offer higher airflow to the brake discs.

The V60 and XC60 Polestar Engineered models also receive blacked-out details like the black-chrome exhaust tips and grille, similar to the S60. Also, the Polestar Engineered badges are a gentle reminder that these models are speedier Swedes while the Wheel-arch extensions help in separating the sport-oriented models from others.

As we talk about the interior, gold seat belts provide a flash of contrast from the charcoal interior built with aluminum accents. Nappa leather washes over the upholstery to keep things really fancy and luxurious.

Volvo has not shared the prices for the option packages but both the V60 and XC60 Polestar Engineered variants are scheduled to go on sale this summer as 2020 model year cars. So be ready to expect a limited number since Volvo has only made 20 S60 Polestar Engineered cars for the U.S.
